Hey, there. I am Craig Knudsen, the guy who is responsible for starting this whole WebCalendar mess :-)

Ever wonder why I started the project? I was looking for a calendar tool to help me keep organized. I wanted to be able to manage my calendar and my wife's calendar and displaying a month-at-a-glance interface nicely in a web browser. Well, I scoured the net (mostly SourceForge and Freshmeat.net) and did not find anything that met my basic needs.... Keep in mind, this was the end of 1999. So, I figured... how hard can that be? Just for fun, you can check out the original WebCalendar home page.

Initially, I hosted on my website and made announcements on Freshmeat. Eventually, I moved hosting over to SourceForge and started using CVS which allowed me to open up development to other developers. I'm sure I glad I did. Rather than having to do 95% of the coding, I now probably do around 30% or less of the coding.

Aside from WebCalendar... I have been working in software development for over 15 years now. About half of that was on commercial projects (mostly e-commerce type things) and half on government contract projects (US Department of Defense). I got my start at a company called BTG, which became part of Titan after I left. I started doing C/Unix development with X-Windows and Motif on Sun and HP workstations. This was back in the days of SunOS 3.X or something... I moved on to commercial work and had some fun at companies like IBM infoMarket and ePresence.

Other interests... well, my dogs, of course. Version 1.0 of WebCalendar was named after Buster (who passed away in May of 2004). And, one of my other dogs (who sadly passed away in April of 2005) was Baloo, who takes great pictures and was perhaps the cutest dog on Earth. (He's the one chewing on the rope toy above.) And, of course, there is Gracie, who turned 7 years old on August 12, 2007. Dogs are cool :-)

I also have an interest in woodworking and consider myself a furniture-maker wannabe. I have constructed a few pieces around the house (bedside tables, blanket chest, armoire, plant stands, etc.) Let me know if you know of any good open source furniture design apps.
